Fixed Gear Portraits: Melbourne

Shortly after arriving in Melbourne I recognized that there is a huge amount of cyclists riding fixed gear, from messengers to hipsters to normal guys. So I thought I should try to find some key figures of the scene as well as the common rider and take their portrait for a little series.
Apart from showing the riders with their bikes I wanted to capture the city itself in the shots. There are a gazillion of amazing looking alleys, cafe´s and great spots in Melbourne and I really wanted to show that side as well and I hope it works…you tell me!

There is still work to do and if i ever go back to Melbourne i´ll try to find girls as well!!
So here we go:

Dan – ShifterBikes; living legend in Melbourne; builds bikes and wheels;

Tim and his Phantom

Ryan – Graphic designer; likes to ride fast

Joshua – Photography student

Stuart – Lawyer; Track rider; his mother produces bike shirts like the one he´s wearing

Andy – Courier legend; runs the webiste www.fyxomatosis.com

Travis – Photography student

Mick – Busyman Bikes; builds the most amazing leather saddles

Thank you guys for letting me take your portrait! It´s been fun shooting in the streets of Melbourne with you guys!

Cheers, Andi
